Eczema over my 2 year old's eye. Any advice or tips?

My daughter has eczema over her eye. It began when she was away from me with her dad for his summer visitation last month. We have been perscribed Elidel.

Does anyone use this themselves or for their children?

Do you know of any side effects personally?

I have read alot on the internet. Her eye looks really bad. It doesn't help that it just started getting 100 degrees here (DFW area, TX) I am putting the Elidel on her eye as directed. She can't use a steroid cream because they have been known to cause cataracts and even blindness when used directly over the eye. So I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this... Elidel has the least amount of side effects. It's the safest drug for a baby with eczema. If it doesn't start to get better after 2 or 3 days, call the doctor back and let them know.

If you have gone to the ped, it would be helpful to see a dermatologist instead. Pediatricians and family practice docs frequently misdiagnose things having to do with skin.

Don't use any steroids without a prescription, the side effects can be extreme, as you already know.Eczema over my 2 year old's eye. Any advice or tips?
I use the johnson%26amp;Johnson brand soothing naturals soap, lotion and sooth and protect balm on my 4 yr old. This seems to releave the discomfort and it's all natural. You can use the balm on the face and eyes. My daughter has eczema there too. It's horrible.

i get eczema on my eye as well. I have found that just a little bit of hydrocortizone cream will relieve it.
