Wedding is in 6 months, your tips or advice on preparing?

6 months till D-Day. I'm preparing my list of things to get done before the wedding but I'd like to hear about the things that made your wedding special, or what was a flop. My husband and I are actually already married (had a small in-home ceremony so I can start my citizenship paperwork) but my family needs an excuse to fly up here so we're having a ceremony in August. We don't want anything large or extravagant just simple elegance. My dress only cost $150, and it's actually a prom dress.

So what would be the best idea for things like guest favors and decorations, and where did you purchase yours?

Thanks in advance!Wedding is in 6 months, your tips or advice on preparing?
The first link below gives some really great ideas for cutting costs and having an inexpensive wedding. One of those ideas you've already done by using a prom dress. There are other articles you can link to from that page.

The second link is to a site dedicated to inexpensive chic weddings. Lots of good ideas there.

Finally, try googling ';inexpensive wedding';. You'll get lots of results where you will be able to build the wedding you want (and make it convincing that it is the real wedding).

One other quick note: Be sure to line up a good photographer. I know you can't afford or don't want the $2500 wedding package, but be sure you find someone who has shot weddings before and always tell them what shots to be sure to get. It really is one shot in a lifetime.

BTW, about that prom dress. That's what my wife wore to our wedding in 1969. White chiffon with a blue ribbon belt - I still call her ';my bride'; almost 40 years later.

Good Luck and May the Years be Kind to You.Wedding is in 6 months, your tips or advice on preparing?
We bought all of our invitations at Michaels, and used the 40% off coupons for them. We also bought a lot of our stuff we are using for favors and decorations at Michaels as well. We did pick up some cool little tins at a local party supply store and we are putting tulle filled bags of M%26amp;M's in them. People LOVE edible favors!

I would suggest picking a simple theme, ours is fushia, white, and black, and squares, and personalize everything to suite you and your husband/fiance.

Best of Luck!
We're doing a Candy Buffet for our favors. We preferred edible favors and thought the candy buffet sounded like fun. Or for each place setting you could have someone make ';candy roses'; I've seen this done and they're unique and gorgeous.

Decor depends on the colors, theme, and mood. I'd personally go with something simple, like candles and petals because you want it to be classy but simple.

Good Luck
Don't worry about favours, they're not really expected unless it's a wedding. Decorations, go to the local party superstore. They can provide you with anything, and if you just browse you'll get great ideas.
Favors was Hershey Kisses

Decorations was rose petals scattered on the tables and candles in vases.

We purchased the Kisses at Walmart and the other stuff at a craft store.
SOAPS OR NOTEPADS OR PERSONALIZED PENS
Congrats on the renewal of vows. Just relax, and have fun planning. Were planning this for our 10th wedding anniversary.

good luck.
