Homecoming advice and asking tips?

My best friend asked a total stranger (she goes to our school however) to homecoming dance and she said yes. He want me to go with him and his date, and he says I should ask a girl. I was going to do the same thing as he did and ask someone I don't really know. Is that a creepy thing to do? And also, if you have any ideas for how to ask her that would be great.Homecoming advice and asking tips?
its not creepy however you should ask someone that is at least in one of your classes so you wont feel that uncomfortable.
