I am a distance runner and ice hockey player. In the last year I have had severe problems with my ankle. I went to get it checked out and the doctor diagnosed me with a chronic Tendinosis; this means that I have to take drastic action and switch sports because my tendons keep snapping and tearing if I compete in high impact sports.
I am very sad to say it, but I have to give up my two favourite sports and trade them in for something low-impact, so swimming it is.
I am a good, strong swimmer, I'm not new to it, but I am going to complete my lifeguard training and join a swim team.
My question is, can anyone give me advice as to best equipment, training recommendations, tips, techniques and anything else that would help? Thank you so much, and I apologize for the long post!Any advice/tips for fo fresh meat?
i have really bad knees I'm not allowed to run or anything but i have been swimming for 5 years, i would just start out easy at it make sure that it doesn't hurt but defiantly get on a team and keep going in sports maybe you will get better and be able to do your sports again and not have muscle loss. Good luck in anything you do and i hope you do well in swimming its a great sport
