Advice/tips about preparing for college exams?

I know that every class has at least a midterm and a final...but then you can also have classes that want to constantly test and quiz you. I'm new to college this fall and I am just looking for some tips to prepare for exams. Midterms are less than two months after classes start (which is crazy to me...I can't believe that I am supposed to learn half of the book in that time.) I just have this mindset that college is for people who are super human and can learn at the speed of light. I take a long time (LOOOONG TIME) to process information and to understand what I am learning. I was a good student in high school...but that means nothing. Honestly, I'm scared. I don't want to flunk out and be a failure. That's not in my nature. I am taking the following courses:

Accounting 101 (I am HORRIBLE at math. I have zero math skills.)

English 101

U.S. History after 1865

Sociology

Not all classes have finals or mid-terms. You'll know when you get the syllabus the first day.

My biggest tip is to attend every class and do all of the reading. That way you don't have to play catch up trying to learn new things while studying old things.

You need to spend about 2 hours outside of class studying/reading per 1 hour of actual class time per week. 3 hour class? 6 hours outside of class studying.

That's all if you want to do well though.
I agree with Andy. Also, try not to be so scared. Go in with confidence. You'll most likely find out that it isn't near as scary as you thought it would be.
