you need to take a little bit of time out to plan your meals and shopping list, otherwise you'll fall into the trap of eating convenience food when you're tired. Make some healthy vegetable soup and pasta and vegetables with chopped tomatoes so you can heat it up when you're peckish. Presumably you do the shopping in your household, so don't do it when you're hungry or you'll end up buying junk - try and stock your cupboard with healthy snacks - ryvita and cottage cheese are nice, tinned fruit, cereals and cereal bars etc - things you can eat in a hurry but that aren't bad for you

Build some exercise into your life - walk to the shops instead of driving, do the housework very vigorously so you can feel your muscles working etc

If you can just make some small changes you're sure to notice a difference

and well done, you're doing a very valuable jobAny tips or advice?
first of all, the girl that said the thing about exercise not helping to lose weight ehm not true. exercise does help a great deal basically you lose weight when your calorie intake is less than calories burnt and the most effective way to burn calories is by exercising. you burn calories doing everyday activities like sleeping, working around and even breathing but obviously you wouldn't burn as much as u would say running. unless u r prepared to go on a very strict diet with little calorie consumption which i don't recommend as it could be unhealthy, you would have to do some sort of exercise to see results. i know u are busy but it really doesn't require that much time. you could try to do it 1st thing in the morning b4 ur child gets up or in the evening when he/she is rested. running around your neighbourhood for about 20 minutes is all you need to start to see results
I've read recently an article that confirms that exercises don't help in losing weight. exercises help you being healthy only. so people who don't have time to exercise that will effect the way they lose weight. they still can lose weight but that need a very restrict diet.

what that American expert did, he gathered two groups of people. the first group were allowed to consume 750 calorie a day and do exercises for an hour day while the second group were allowed to consume only 500 calorie without exercising at all. the two groups lost the same amount of weight in the same period of time.

So..congratulations for people who have no time to exercise, they still can lose weight but they will not lose weight even if they eat healthy but a lot.
then eat healthy food full off nutrients and vitamins and any time that you are free like when you sit watching tv instead go walk, maybe on weekends you'll have time walking or jogging.
What is your current diet? Are you eating the right kinds of healthy foods? I.e. do you have a low carbohydrate intake, but high fibre and veg intake, which will fill you up. Have a larger breakfast, smaller dinner, and eat more frequent, smaller meals, rather than large ones if possible. 9stone seems rather small for a height of 5ft 8, I'm not sure, but I'm sure 10.5st might be the upper healthy limit for you height. I'd check it out: you don't want to have an unhealthy target weight. Need more information on your current diet and activity levels to really help. Hope this may be of some use, and good luck.
If you are too busy to count calories, try eating only food with low energy density.

This allows you to eat regularly (every 3 - 4 hours), thus keeping your metabolic rate high, yet you avoid the pasta, cheese, cereals, etc that are preventing you from losing weight.
