I want to be a DJ....advice,tips?

I'm a BIG fan of electronic music....love Oakenfold,Digitally Stoned People, The Prodigy,Fatboy Slim etc..

I'm 17 so I'm busy with school and stuff so I won't be able to get a job...however i WILL be able to devote time to DJing..

I have a little over $ 700 saved up from previous jobs...will this be enough to get some basic DJ equipment? This is gonna be the first time I'm even touching a deck and stuff, so obviously 2nd hand will be cool......and what equipment do i need overall? Will it all come to within $ 700-750?

Thanks.I want to be a DJ....advice,tips?
It's great that you have a goal at 17, but I highly recommend you find something besides DJing, because my husband has been a remote DJ for years and the times are changing. People don't want them anymore. There are too many alternatives in this computerized era to replace DJs. And, because of the vast array of different kinds of music, you won't make everyone happy like you could in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Dance music was new and everyone loved it. Now, people demand more, and they demand more of what THEY like which usually isn't what the person next to them likes. It's a hard employ and won't make you happy,.

You will also continue to spend what little money you make buying more equipment because of all the drunks that spill their drinks on your expensive stuff. And, you get treated with no respect. People think you are there to cater to them and they treat you like you are a piece of **** to be bad-mouthed. Oh, the best part is when the same drunks come up and ask you over and over again to play songs that no one wants to hear and can't be danced to. Then when you don't play it they get in your face.
